SL Kids Questions
Early Childhood
What did God promise Sarah and Abraham? (that they would have a baby; that they would
have as many children as stars in the sky; to bless the world through their family)
How did Sarah respond when she heard about God’s promise? (She laughed.)
What did Sarah and Abraham name their baby? (Isaac)
Have you ever had to wait a long time for something? How did you feel while waiting?
The messengers asked, “Is anything too hard for God?” What is something that is hard
for you to do? Would it be too hard for God?
How would you respond if God told you something was going to happen that you
thought was impossible?
What is a promise God makes us? Do you believe He will keep that promise? (If kids need
help, offer ideas such as, to save and forgive us, to adopt us into His family as children of God,
to love us, to never leave us.)
Sometimes we may have to wait a long time for something good to happen, or we may think
something is too difficult, but we can remember nothing is too hard for God. God will always
keep His promises just like He did with Abraham and Sarah! Let’s say a prayer together now.
Invite kids to share prayer requests and praises and to pray for each other. Some kids may not be comfortable praying out loud. That’s OK!
Encourage them to pray silently and to thank God for keeping His promises.

what God is doing, we can be certain that God loves us and always keeps His promises. Let’s
take some time to talk to God in prayer.
Preteen Questions
What were the three parts to the promise God gave to Abraham? (Abraham and Sarah
would have a big family, their family would be given a new land, and their family would have
an important role in restoring the world.)
Why did Sarah think it would be difficult for God to keep His promise? (Abraham and
Sarah were already very old and didn’t have any children.)

Have you ever made a promise to someone and not been able to keep it? What
prevented you from keeping it? Would these reasons prevent God from keeping a
promise?
Abraham and Sarah learned that God keeps His promises, even when it seems
impossible by human standards. What kind of promises would be impossible for people
to keep but are not impossible for God?
Think about a promise that someone made to you, or maybe you made to someone else that
couldn’t be kept. Unfulfilled promises can be disappointing. However, God is not like us. He
will always keep His promises and never leave us disappointed. Let’s spend some time in
prayer talking to God and thanking Him for His promises.
Engage Prayer!
Remind kids that God always hears their prayers and loves when they talk with Him!
You can hand out note cards and writing utensils and invite your kids to write or draw a prayer request or a praise on their card along with their name. Have them exchange cards with a friend, sibling, or you.
Together, take turns praying aloud for the requests and praises on the cards. Then invite kids to take their parent's, sibling's, or friend’s note card as a reminder to pray for her all week.
