Foundations: Mission
Life:
-Time to answer the age old question... what is the meaning of life?
Specifically, what is the meaning of life to a christian and a non-christian?
-Do you feel like your life reflects that? If you were to compare your life and aspirations, which side to they resemble more?
-Is it possible to pursue both? Is it wrong to have other goals, purpose, and dreams of. your life?
Truth:
The West Minster Catechism starts with the following:
"Q: What is the chief end of man? A: Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever."
Before we can enjoy God, especially forever, we need to see why He's worth enjoying
As a group, Read Ecclesiastes 1 and 2.
-In Ecclesiastes 1:2, what does the author mean by "all is vanity"?
-In 1:3, the question is asked "what does man gain?" Looking through this "lens", what do we gain by living with a heavenly purpose? What do we gain by living with earthly purpose? What is the difference between earthly gain and heavenly gain?
-Based from what we have read in Ch. 1, how does Godly wisdom impact our purpose as believers?
Read 2:14-16 again.
-What is the difference between wise and unwise when our time on earth is up? What can we bring over with us into Eternal Life?
Read Romans 8:1-11
-What makes living our lives worth it? What truths can we draw from Romans 8?
Action:
-Identify areas in your life where you need to evaluate priorities.
-What do you want your life's work to reflect?
-What do you want to be remembered for?
-Ask the Lord to reveal your life's purpose and calling! Ask Him to show you how you can bring Him glory as the unique individual He created!
